Montgomery County Department of Social Services offers EMERGENCY RELIEF (EA) EA that provides short-term assistance during an immediate crisis to families where a related child at home is under 18 (or 19 if he or she is a full-time high school student). The program is limited in both allowable reserve and countable gross income at or below 150% of the poverty level. There is a maximum benefit of $500 per household. EA can be used to pay for utilities, rent, temporary shelter, transportation and other things considered an emergency according to program guidelines. These services are provided based on available funding. MCDSS reserves the ability to require applicants to apply for work first in order to achieve our mission statement goals. Operating hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
