Experiment In Self-Reliance, Inc. provides assistance could include improved school and book fees, childcare assistance, access to well-paid employment, housing services, transportation, etc. Emergency assistance is also available under certain circumstances to prevent some clients from becoming homeless or in other crisis situations (rental assistance/mortgage repayment). Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    My husband and I are elderly and I am 100% disabled. We found a more affordable apt. that is 55 and older. We just had to pay the security deposit of $440 and prorated rent for June of $220 and $250 deposit for water. We owe 2 months electric payments and we need help paying those and July rent of $43. We got behind on bills due to health problems and copayments. I am in remission from liver cancer. My husband is 70 yo. and has copd and third stage kidney disease. If we could get help with electric and rent we would be in good shape. Thank you. Laurie

    Hello, my name is Luis Cisneros, I live here in Winston Salem. I was searching for any place I could possibly get financial help with bills and/or rent, and found Experiment in Self Reliance INC. Currently, I am out of work and have been since 09/23/2019, due to personal matters that I'd rather discuss VIA phone, should I hear from anyone. I live with my mother and my two little brothers who are 6 and 9 years old, and my mom is also currently not able to work. I would only need help with rent payment, which is $415.00.

    HELLO I JUST STARTED WORKING AGAIN AFTER HAVING COVID AND WAS ON MATERNITY LEAVE MONEY HAS BEEN REALLY TIGHT AND I REALLY NEED HELP WITH RENTAL ASSISTANCE. I GOT A LETTER FOR POSSIBLE EVICTION.

    My boyfriend and I were renting a home and he passed away March 3, 2021 and I can not afford the whole rent amount. I get early retirement and it is not much at all to cover full rent amount and my other bills. How can I get some help?
