The Emergency Solutions Grant ProgramThe Emergency Solutions Grant Program (ESGP) is designed to be the first step in a continuum of assistance to help applicants quickly regain stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness. Applicants must be equal to or less than the median income of 30%. Activities include street outreach, emergency housing, homelessness prevention and rapid housing redistribution assistance. T he key provisions of the program are for: * To help improve the quality of existing emergency shelters for the homeless * To help make additional emergency shelters available * To help cover the running costs of emergency shelters and provide certain essential social services to homeless people so that the homeless have access not only to safe and sanitary shelters but also to support services and other * * types of assistance they need to improve their situation * To provide short and medium-term assistance and rental services to homeless people who quickly resettle. Eligible providers * Only private non-profit organisations that have been providing services to the homeless for at least one year are eligible for funding * They must be able to provide counterpart funds (in-kind contributions) equal to the amount provided * They must involve homeless individuals and families in ESG activities as far as possible * They must be able to provide written certification that they are separate from a Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Business hours Monday-Friday 8:00-17:00
