Washington County General Assistance Provides assistance on a temporary basis for a limited period of time. It can be used to pay for basic needs that includes the following for clients who are unable to work. Rent/lot rent Interest on original mortgage Utilities-gas, electric, and water; burial; and food vouchers General Assistance cannot be used on Subsidized Housing. Assistance programs: Burial assistance Groceries Rent payment assistance Utility service payment assistance Hours (B y appointment): Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM

My sister is not able to fill out forms herself. Is there any assistance to help her with this. She makes a very low income and lives in low income housing but if I understand her correctly she pays almost $300 for rent and only makes a few hundred dollars per month. I would like for her to get more assistance. She cannot go get groceries, or take out trash in this weather. In my state of Texas, she would not be paying anything for housing assistance. 0 rent. Could you possible help her?
