Rent Assistance

Project for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) and street outreach programs assist unsheltered persons by engaging them where they are located, ensuring they access any treatment they need (mental illness, physical health, substance abuse), and access to housing coupled with case management. The primary purpose of the street outreach program is to engage clients living on the streets and places not meant for human habitation and enroll them into HOPE Atlanta programs. A community-based, permanent housing program for those with special needs, chronically homeless, homeless women, and women with children that promotes self-sufficiency and offers a full continuum of prevention, intervention, and on-going supportive services onsite. The combination of housing relocation services with home-based, intensive case management enables homeless persons to break the cycle of homelessness. Rapid Rehousing Program helps homeless households acquire permanent housing in the metro area, including assistance with security deposits. Program provided persons who are currently homeless but are in need of a temporary boost the ability to move beyond their current crisis. Travelers Aid assisted 703 unduplicated individuals (322households) with rental and deposit assistance in FY 2016. These individuals and families were taken off the streets and out of shelters, moved into their own apartments, and provided case management to help ensure their success at maintaining permanent, unsubsidized housing.
