Preventing Homelessness One of Bethesda Cares’ highest priorities of Bethesda Cares is to prevent homelessness in the first place. Through our Housing Stabilization Program (eviction/utility shut-off prevention), we assist county wide keeping area residents safe in their homes with utilities turned on. Collaborating with a large network of local providers who, we partner to package grant assistance to County residents under severe financial distress. Our Housing Stabilization Counselor counselor reviews the request for a plan to maintain housing once the client comes through the crisis; if approved, our grants are sent directly to the appropriate landlord/utility company. A safety-net program, this assistance is available once per year from time of last receipt of a grant.
