Maricopa County Human Services Department, Community Services Division, is the designated Community Action Agency to serve Maricopa County. Community services partners with local cities, towns, and non-profit agencies to provide assistance to eligible individual and families to support basic needs, prevent homelessness and promote self-sufficiency. Community Services Division aligns services to create systems of support to avert crisis and manage the impact of poverty. Human Services include: Community Services Early Education Housing/ Community Development Senior & Adult Services Workforce Development Community Action Program: The Community Services Division provides a broad array of safety net services throughout the local communities, working to prevent homeless, address crisis situations, and assist low income households increase self-sufficiency. Mortgage/Rental Assistance: The Community Services Division administers a mortgage/rental assistance for residents of Maricopa County, outside the cities of Phoenix, Mesa, and Glendale which have similar programs and provide services to the residents in their communities. Qualifying residents of Maricopa County may receive assistance with their rental deposit or a portion of their one month mortgage/rental payment to assist them in staying in their current residence. Housing / Community Development: The Housing and Community Development Division partners with community and governmental organizations to expand affordable housing, support shelter and rapid re-housing for homeless adults and families, weatherize homes, revitalize neighborhoods, and improve community infrastructure, facilities, and services. Funded through a wide array of county, state, federal, and non-profit agencies, these services focus on improving the lives of low to moderate income individuals and households and their communities they reside. Through the Weatherization and Maricopa County Home Improvement Program, the division directly provides home and energy efficiency service to eligible homeowners in the County. The program relies on an innovative centralized inquiry system which assists with efficient response time and funding leveraged from a number of sources.
