The Coalition for Compassion and Justice is a community organization committed to addressing immediate needs, empowering people toward self-sufficiency and advocating for systemic changes that improve the health and well-being of people in Yavapai County. The of CCJ is to provide vital services, education and advocacy for people living in poverty, leading to a fair and just community for all. Second Chance Housing: Inspired by similar projects happening in some places throughout the US, CCJ developed its Second Chance Housing Program. The name "Second Chance" stems from giving renters a second chance. An issue that keep many homeless is an inability to find affordable, accessible housing. Even when housing is affordable, a bad credit or rental history can keep people away from finding a place to live/ This is where the CCJ steps in as a compassionate landlord who is willing to overlook past issues and rent out housing at affordable rates. At eight housing units and growing, consisting of a mix of mobile homes and trailers, CCJ has now been able to place several formerly homeless families and individuals into homes.
